Jim Fitt is founder and CEO of Velsoft and is responsible for all aspects of the business. Under Fitt’s leadership, Velsoft has grown from a small ebook publisher to a leader in the global eLearning space.

Fitt and his team have grown the company by building new solutions internally, making strategic acquisitions and establishing relationships with key technology partners. With product being used by the world’s largest brands in over 160 countries worldwide, Velsoft helps organizations easily expand their corporate training options in a fast and easy way that is tailored to their individual needs.

As a former digital marketing expert with several of Atlantic Canada’s largest marketing firms and later and IT instructor with the Nova Scotia School of Fisheries and Nova Scotia Community College system, Fitt has combined his educational background with his natural entrepreneurial abilities to create a corporation that is on the leading edge of the $320 billion annual workplace learning and performance (WLP) industry.

Born and raised in Pictou County, Jim is a true entrepreneur and evangelist for both doing business in the rural economy and using technology to gain a competitive advantage.

Jim is also passionate about giving back to his community and currently co-chairs the New Glasgow Business Advisory Committee, is past Fundraising Chair for the United Way of Pictou County, past President of the Pictou county Chamber of Commerce, past Director of the Atlantic Interactive Marketing Conference, past director of Calmeadow (a community-based micro-loan program) and has been committee member on the PRDC Strategic Planning Core Team, PRDC Image Committee, PRDC Marketing Committee, Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee, and the New Glasgow Downtown Development Commission. 

Awards Fitt has received include the Jack Pink United Way Volunteer Award, I-3 Technology Start-Up Competition 1st Place award (2015), EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Finalist (2014), Pictou County Business Person of the Year (2013), Nova Scotia’s Exporter of the Year (2013), Regional Export Achievement Award (2013) and Entrepreneur of the Year (2007).
