This 40 hour Workplace Education program will provide you with the knowledge to help you understand the day-to-day use of the Sage 50 software (formerly Simply Accounting), as well as how to set up your company. It will help navigate throughout the modules and to  familiarize yourself with useful shortcuts. We will look at a number of tools and resources to make your job easier.

By the end of the Sage 50 program you should be able to enter your own source documents into your Sage 50 program, find and correct errors, and monitor reports. The following topics may be covered:

  • Accounting for Sage 50;
  • Sage 50 Orientation;
  • Creating a Company;
  • Using the Chart of Accounts;
  • Correcting Errors;
  • General Ledger Setup;
  • General Journal;
  • Accounts Payable Module;
  • Accounts Receivable Module.

**Completion of the Financial Fundamentals (aka "Dollars and Sense") program, or equivalent knowledge, is a prerequisite for this program.

Start Date: Tuesday, January 16, 2024

Time:  1:00pm - 5:00pm

Classes will run every Tuesday for 10 consecutive weeks. There are additional requirements for the Zoom online programs, as follows: The program must be taken on a computer, laptop, or tablet; phones will not be an accepted device. Participants must have a high speed Internet connection (no dial up), and hardwired is preferred to wi-fi. A headset or earbuds must be used, and the participant must have a webcam, if no camera in their laptop, with the camera left on; video participation is a requirement, to ensure the connection to the instructor and other participants. A quiet place to focus is required, free from distractions. These details will be part of the INA process.

Registration is not confirmation of acceptance in the program; you will be contacted as to your status after an individual needs assessment, and no later than January 12, 2024.

"I have taken two of the programs now and can honestly say, both put me leaps and bounds ahead of where I started. The instructors are amazing, the programs are well run and full of useful and relatable information. The diverse group of people in the groups make for a wealth of ideas and perspectives."

Gina MacCallum, Literacy Nova Scotia

TESTIMONIALS

"I highly recommend the business training courses offered by NOBL. The courses I've taken have provided wonderful fundamentals. Every week I learn something new. The training makes me take the time to focus on honing skills I need to grow my business or help others in growing theirs. I also really appreciate that it's face-to-face training, which allows for discussion and networking with others. Definitely time well spent. And the best part is it's free!
