I started my career working for the Government of Canada in the Halifax/Dartmouth region. When my husband’s job brought us to Pictou County, I took some time off to raise my family.
When I went back to work it was for the Empire/Sobeys group of companies and after that I worked for an engineering firm in Pictou, which is where I was introduced to Simply Accounting (now known as Sage 50). Due to downsizing of that firm, I struck out on my own and took advantage of the Self-Employment Benefits program offered through CBCD/NOBL. I started offering part-time bookkeeping assistance to various firms in the Pictou County region and later that expanded to include teaching new businesses to set up and maintain their own bookkeeping records. It has now (2017) been thirteen years since I started Lighthouse Bookkeeping Services and I enjoy meeting all the different people and businesses that have crossed my path during that time.

About Edna Tobey
"The course content has been very applicable to staff training requirements for our small business, and in combination with the scheduling flexibility and cost, I highly recommend Workplace Education training for employee skills development. Our staff was implementing the skills obtained from Workplace Education, on local and export projects, while participating in the course.
The instructors customize the course material not only from their own real-world experience, but also based upon the class composition. The instructors strive to incorporate the objectives of the individual participants towards the common benefits of the entire group."
