I started my career working for the Government of Canada in the Halifax/Dartmouth region. When my husband’s job brought us to Pictou County, I took some time off to raise my family.
When I went back to work it was for the Empire/Sobeys group of companies and after that I worked for an engineering firm in Pictou, which is where I was introduced to Simply Accounting (now known as Sage 50). Due to downsizing of that firm, I struck out on my own and took advantage of the Self-Employment Benefits program offered through CBCD/NOBL. I started offering part-time bookkeeping assistance to various firms in the Pictou County region and later that expanded to include teaching new businesses to set up and maintain their own bookkeeping records. It has now (2017) been thirteen years since I started Lighthouse Bookkeeping Services and I enjoy meeting all the different people and businesses that have crossed my path during that time.

About Edna Tobey
As the owner of a young, small business I would never have been able to afford training in SAGE that is comparable to what I received through CBDC/NOBL. Nor would I have been able to take a semester to live away from home to complete such training. Chris (the instructor) was beyond knowledgeable and provided a lot of useful information for business owners in addition to the ins and outs of SAGE. I have been using SAGE for business since day one of the course and it has made our accounting remarkably less complicated and time consuming. Without CBDC/NOBL I would not have made this investment in myself and the company. Thank you so much.
